What You’ll Do

  • Master election-related content using the training manual and curriculum.

  • Deliver engaging, effective training sessions for election workers — in person and over the phone.

  • Serve as a trusted support resource, providing excellent customer service during election periods.

  • Travel to Harris County locations to lead trainings and provide on-site coaching.

  • Step in to handle last-minute needs and emergencies during critical voting times.

  • Clearly communicate policies and procedures using official printed materials.

  • Collaborate with and support other election-related departments as needed.


What We’re Looking For

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to follow state and county election policies with precision.

  • Physically able to lift up to 40 lbs and remain on your feet for long periods.

  • Willingness to travel, including long distances and night driving.

  • Comfort working in high-pressure environments with a solutions-first mindset.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least 1 year of training experience.

  • Prior experience as an election judge, trainer, or in a similar election-related role.

  • Familiarity with vote center procedures, election equipment, and Harris County election systems.

Ideal Candidate Traits:

  • Confident public speaker with strong communication skills.

  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Tech-savvy and proficient in Microsoft Office and digital tools.

  • Flexible and adaptable to changing schedules.

  • Calm under pressure, with strong leadership and conflict-resolution abilities.


Schedule & Hours

  • Temporary role, 30–40 hours per week (overtime possible during election periods).

  • Train-the-Trainer Periods:

    • August 11 – September 13, 2025

    • January 5 – January 16, 2026
      (Monday–Friday, hours vary)

  • Official Training Period: Must be available 5 days per week.

  • Training Shifts: 8–12 hours.

  • Election Shifts: 14–20 hours.

  • Holidays off include Thanksgiving week, winter holidays, MLK Day, and more.

  • Reduced hours and mandatory vacation between elections.

  • No time off during peak election periods:

    • October 13 – November 11, 2025

    • February 9 – March 10, 2026


Physical Demands

This is an active position requiring standing, walking, pushing, pulling, and lifting. Candidates must be able to lift up to 40 pounds and remain active for long shifts.
